Moline, Illinois - John Deere has introduced a new high-performance, limited production snowmobile, the 295/S, powered by a special twin-cylinder engine rated by the company at more than 40 horse power.
The machine features dual Mikuni slide-valve carburetors, capacitor discharge igmnition, John Deere's precision torque sensing, variable speed clutch system and tuned exhaust. John Deere slide-suspension with three-piece, 15-inch grauser bar track is standard, as are aluminum skis with carbide wear rods.
Additional features are complete instrumentation, shock absorbers, kill switch, energy-absorbing seat and handlebar crash pad.
The new 295/S, John Deere's high performance snowmobile qualifies as a stock machine under the St. Paul Winter Carnival rules for the St. Paul to Winnipeg International 500 Race.
