PERFORMANCE UPDATE
September 1988 - Cylinder Porting Helps Increase Fuel, Air Flow. Itdoes not hurt engine performance and can actually help an engine run better. Imperfections in the ports of mass-produced cylinders get ground away during the porting, leaving more perfect channels for the fuel and air. So along with expanding the ports and possibly giving them beveled or chamfered edges, rough surfaces and smoothed out.
